Mexico is the main gateway to live poker in Latin America. Activity is concentrated in Mexico City, where the Big Bola group's rooms host the international stops, notably the WSOP Circuit, which awards its rings there on the same footing as in the United States.
Buy-ins are noticeably more accessible than at the equivalent US stops, which draws heavy local turnout and pushes prize pools up on modest entry fees. The big festivals run for around ten days and string together multi-flight formats.
Casinos are regulated federally by the Ministry of the Interior (Segob). Depending on the event, buy-ins are quoted either in Mexican pesos or in US dollars.
